Barra del Colorado Wildlife Refuge encompasses a diverse range of ecosystems, including rainforests, wetlands, lagoons, and rivers. This ample range of habitats creates ideal conditions for a vast variety of birds. This is a remote and relatively undisturbed nature area, which makes it a haven for birds. A large array of food sources, such as insects, trees, fruits, and fish, supports a rich and diverse bird population. Some of the species within and nearby the refuge include the great green macaw, egrets, herons, kingfishers, woodpeckers, trogons and much more.
